Purl stitches<\/strong>, just like knit stitches<\/a>, belong to the basic stitches, which is why you should also master this knitting technique as a knitting beginner. But don’t worry, purl stitches are, just like knit stitches, very easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you master purl and knit stitches, you can already create many knitting patterns, such as the stockinette stitch<\/a>, the rib stitch<\/a>, or the seed stitch<\/a>. Purl stitches are also used for many more complicated knitting patterns on the back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:<\/strong> Insert the right needle from right to left into the next stitch on the left needle. The working yarn is in front of<\/strong> the project, different from knit stitches where the working yarn is behind the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:<\/strong> Wrap the working yarn once from back to front around the right needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:<\/strong> Now pull the working yarn with the right needle to the back through the stitch in which you have inserted the needle. You now have a new stitch on your right needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: <\/strong>Let the stitch on your left needle slip off the left needle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
