The Leaf Cardigan is a top down raglan cardigan pattern. The cardigan is worked in one piece. That means no sewing is needed at the end. Thanks to the top-down construction, the length of the cardigan is variable, means you can easily adjust it to your needs.
This pattern is an advanced pattern, means it it a bit challenging due to the leaf stitch in combination with the top down-knitting. But if you know the basic techniques below and want to take up a challenging project, you’ll be rewarded with a beautiful cardigan at the end. If you have already knitted some lace stitch projects or even leaf stitch projects and you are familiar with top down knitting, this will be easy going for you 🙂

LEVEL: Advanced
SIZE: XS, S, M, L and XL
MEASUREMENTS: Chest: 48, 50, 52, 54, 56 cm. Sleeves: 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 cm. Length variable.
YOU WILL NEED:
- 3 and 5 mm circular needles, 3 mm double pointed needles
- E.g. 4 (XS, S) or 5 (M, L, XL) x 100g KNITLOOP 100% SWEET ALPACA, or a similar wool (100g = ~200m)
- 5 buttons
- A sewing needle
- Some stitch markers
GAUGE IN LEAF STITCH:
25 stitches = 16 cm
20 rows = 10 cm
TECHNIQUES:
You should master these basic techniques:
Knit stitch – purl stitch – yarn over – cast-on – cast-off.
The following techniques are explained in the pattern:
Knit 2 together – Left leaning decrease – Central double decrease – Left leaning increase – Right leaning increase.
