Leaf Stitch

The leaf stitch is a beautiful knit stitch that I came across by chance. It is the basis for my Leaf Top.

Techniques:

You should master these basic techniques: Knit stitch – purl stitch – yarn over – cast-on – cast-off.

Knit 2 together: Insert the right knitting needle into the next two stitches of the left needle at the same time and knit them as if it were one stitch.

Left leaning decrease: Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit the next stitch, pass the slip stitch over the knit stitch.

Central double decrease: Slip two stitches at the same time from the left needle to the right needle knitwise, knit the next stitch and pass the two slip stitches over the knit stitch.

Stitch:

The stitch is repeated every 20 rows. You can repeat the instructions between the asterisks as often as you like.

Cast on stitches divisible by 12 + 13 stitches.

Row 1: Knit 1. Yarn over. Knit 4. Make a central double decrease. * Knit 4. Yarn over. Knit 1. Yarn over. Knit 4. Make a central double decrease. * Knit 4. Yarn over. Knit 1

Row 2 and all even rows: Purl all stitches.
