For the amigurumi cloud you need:

  • Cotton or cotton remnants in white, e.g. by we are knitters
  • 3 mm crochet hook
  • One pair of scissors
  • Filling material (cotton)
  • 1 stitch marker
  • A darning needle

Dimensions of the finished cloud:

approx. (W x H) 15 x 7 cm

Techniques:

Magic Loop: You can find many helpful tutorial videos on this. Just search for “Magic Loop crochet” or “Crochet thread ring”.

Single crochet (Sc): Insert the hook into the stitch where you want to crochet the single crochet. Pick up the thread and pull it through the loop. You now have two loops on your hook. Make a yarn over and pull the yarn through both loops on your crochet hook at the same time.

Crochet 1 increase: Crochet a sc in the next stitch. Now crochet a second sc in the same stitch again.

Decrease 1: Insert the hook into the next stitch, pick up the thread and pull it though the stitch. You now have two loops on your hook. Insert the hook into the next stich. Pick up the thread and pull it through the stitch. You now have 3 stitches on your hook. Pick up the thread again and pull it through the three loops.

Let’s start

Start with a Magic Loop.

Round 1: Crochet 5 sc in the Magic Loop. (5 stitches)

Always place the stitch marker on the last stitch.

Round 2: Crochet an increase in each sc. (10 stitches)

Round 3: * Crochet 1 sc. Crochet an increase. * Repeat until the end of the round. (15 stitches)

Round 4: * Crochet 2 sc. Crochet an increase. * Repeat until the end of the round. (20 stitches)

Round 5: * Crochet 3 sc. Crochet an increase. * Repeat until the end of the round. (25 stitches)

Round 6: Crochet a sc in each stitch. (25 stitches)

Round 7-8: Repeat round 6.

Round 9: Crochet 11 sc. Crochet three increases. Crochet 11 sc. (28 stitches)

Round 10: Crochet 12 sc. Crochet three increases. Crochet 13 sc. (31 stitches)

Round 11: Crochet 14 sc. Crochet three increases. Crochet 14 sc. (34 stitches)

Round 12: Crochet 15 sc. Crochet three increases. Crochet 16 sc. (37 stitches)

Round 13: Crochet 17 sc. Crochet three increases. Crochet 17 sc. (40 stitches)

Round 14: Crochet a sc in each stitch. (40 M)

Round 15-17: Repeat round 14.

Fill your cloud with the filling material. Make sure the cloud is well filled before you continue crocheting.

Round 18: Crochet 17 sc. Crochet three decreases. Crochet 17 sc. (37 stitches)

Round 19: Crochet 15 sc. Crochet three decreases. Crochet 16 sc. (34 stitches)

Round 20: Crochet 14 sc. Crochet three decreases. Crochet 14 sc. (31 stitches)

Round 21: Crochet 12 sc. Crochet three decreases. Crochet 13 sc. (28 stitches)

Round 22: Crochet 11 sc. Crochet three decreases. Crochet 11 sc. (25 stitches)

Round 23: Crochet a sc in each stitch. (25 M)

Round 24-25: Repeat round 23.

Fill your cloud with more filling material.

Round 26: * Crochet 3 sc. Crochet a decrease. * Repeat until the end of the round. (20 stitches)

Round 27: * Crochet 2 sc. Crochet a decrease * Repeat until the end of the round. (15 stitches)

Round 28: * Crochet 1 sc. Crochet a decrease. * Repeat until the end of the round. (10 stitches)

Fill the remaining space with filling material.

Round 29: * Crochet a decrease. * Repeat until the end of the round. (5 stitches)

Finish your Amigurumi Cloud

Now pull the working thread through the last loop.

Hide the end of the thread in the cloud.

Your amigurumi cloud is ready! If you like, you can now add a loop of thread to the top to attach your amigurumi cloud to a baby mobile, for example.
