DIY Boho Halskette

DIY boho necklace

Inspired by the So Boho Bikini I crocheted a matching DIY boho necklace in this weekend. I love fringes and with this statement necklace every plain top can be enhanced. The simple crocheting pattern is perfect for wool leftovers. I could also imagine the fringes very well in different colours.

For the DIY boho necklace you need:

  • Cotton, or cotton leftovers in the desired color, e.g. we are knitters
  • A crochet hook (4,5 – 5 mm)
  • Eventually a pair of scissors

Here we go:

Chain 100+2 with your crochet hook.

Row 1: Work 34 double crochets starting from the third Chain. Work 3 double crochets into the next chain. Work 14 double crochets. Work 3 double crochets into the next chain. Work 14 double crochets. Work another 3 double crochets into the next chain. Finally work 35 double crochets until the end of your chain. You’ll have 106 stitches.

The increases (3 double crochets in one stitch) create small corners, which later serve as orientation for fixing the fringes.

Row 2: Chain 2. Work 36 double crochets. Work 3 double crochets into the next chain. Work 15 double crochets. Work 3 double crochets into the next chain. Work 15 double crochets. Work 3 double crochets into the next chain. Work 37 double crochets until the end of the row.

Cut the thread and pull the end through the last stitch.

Finish your project:

Sew the remaining threads on both ends.

Now you tie the fringes to your DIY boho necklace. Cut approx. 20 cm long threads to size. Lay them double and knot one thread on each stitch of your necklace, from the left corner to the right corner.

At the end you can add more fringes if you still see gaps. You can also cut the fringes with scissors if they are not the same length or have not the desired shape.

Done! You can now simply knot the necklace in the neck.
